Emmanuel Katongole (Chairman)

Emmanuel Katongole is a Ugandan Entrepreneur who has diligently served his country in the fight against HIV/AIDS and Malaria. He serves as the Executive Chairman of Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Ltd, a Pan-African company that manufactures anti-retroviral and anti-malaria medicines. He further serves as the Chairman of the National Oil Company of Uganda as well as on other boards in both private and public organizations He has won a number of awards including the 2012 East African Ernst and Young World Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Africa Business Leadership Award hosted by the Africa Development Bank. He was a finalist in the 2013 Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Monaco. Emmanuel holds an MA in Economic Policy and Planning (MA-EPP) and a Bachelor of Statistics degree from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda

Maral Browaldh (Swedfund)

Swedfund International (“Swedfund”) is the Development Finance Institution of the Swedish state; its mission is to combat poverty by investing in and developing sustainable businesses in the world’s most challenging markets

Swedfund was established 1979 and has since invested in businesses, financial institutions and funds in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Baltic States. Swedfund invested in TLG COF in early 2018

Swedfund is represented by Maral Browaldh on the TLG Advisory Board. Maral joined Swedfund in 2019 and was previously working at Bonnier AB as Director Strategy, corporate development and M&A. She has a BSc in Microeconomics and MSc in Business Administration from Lund University, Sweden

Jules Green

Jules is an experienced emerging market Fund Manager with some 20 years of active involvement as part of the management team that founded Ashmore Group plc in 1992. Ashmore, a large British investment manager dedicated to the emerging markets, went on to become one of the largest specialist institutional investors in this field. Jules has a BSc in Management Sciences from LSE and is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB)

Mark Murray

Mark has broad financial experience across capital markets and investment management. He spent 18 years at ICAP, the world’s largest interdealer broker, first specializing in Interest Rate Derivatives before heading up the Structured Credit group. Mark also advises and invests in start-ups including truRating, the first mass point-of-payment rating service to capture customer feedback via Chip & PIN. He holds considerable experience in the real estate sector, structuring and leading investments in both commercial and residential projects in Europe. Mark is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and is fluent in German and Spanish

Bernt Tallaksen

Bernt was a Fund Manager at Thames River Capital LLP from 1998 to 2009, managing the Thames River Hillside Apex Fund SPC and Hillside APEX Segregated Portfolio, as well as heading their Global Credit team. In 1997 he joined CapMAC Investment Management in San Francisco as Senior Emerging Market Debt Analyst. He was responsible for assessing relative value strategies and developing risk management and security analysis tools. From 1995 to 1997, he worked at LGT Asset Management in San Francisco, as an Emerging Market Debt Analyst where he focused on hard currency and local currency relative value bond and derivative trades. Bernt graduated in 1991 with a B.Sc. in Business Administration from California State University, and followed with an MBA in 1995 from the University of Chicago, GSB
